Why XM Stands Out

  • Full MT5 Access Across All Devices

Trade using MT5 on desktop, web browser, or mobile — with fast execution, charting tools, and multi-asset access.

  • Swap-Free MT5 Trading

All MT5 accounts can be made Islamic with no interest or rollover charges — ideal for Malaysian Muslim traders.

  • Ultra Low Account = ECN-Like Pricing

Spreads start from just 0.6 pips with no commission — simple for MT5 beginners and cost-efficient for active traders.

  • MYR Deposits via Local Bank Transfer

XM supports FPX and online bank funding in MYR — fast, fee-free deposits.

  • Beginner-Friendly MT5 Experience

Step-by-step MT5 setup guides, video tutorials, and a responsive helpdesk — ideal for first-time MT5 users.

Why XM Falls Short

  • No Raw Spread or Commission-Based MT5 Option

Although spreads are tight, there’s no true ECN-style MT5 account — limiting for scalpers or pros.

  • No Advanced MT5 Education in Malay

While basic guides exist, there’s limited MT5 training specifically in Malay for local users

  • You want to trade MT5 with just $5 to get started
  • You’re looking for swap-free MT5 trading with MYR deposit support

Why ACY Securities Stands Out

  • MT5 with ECN-style spreads

Raw spreads from 0.0 pips and fast execution make ACY’s MT5 ideal for scalping, day trading, and EA strategies.

  • Copy trading available directly on MT5

MT5 integrates with ACY’s Signals page and external tools, allowing traders to replicate top-performing strategies easily.

  • Large multi-asset selection on MT5

Access Forex, indices, energies, metals, cryptocurrencies, and global share CFDs.

  • Full support for EAs and automated trading

MT5 users can run expert advisors without limitations, making it suitable for algo traders.

Why ACY Securities Falls Short

  • Ultra-high 1:5000 leverage not available on MT5

MT5 operates at lower leverage levels compared to ACY’s proprietary platform.

  • MT5 may be complex for beginners

New traders who prefer simpler mobile interfaces may find the advanced MT5 setup overwhelming.

Final Verdict: Is ACY Securities right for you?

Trade if:

  • You want MT5 with tight spreads and excellent execution
  • You want built-in copy-trading support on the MT5 platform

Consider Alternatives:

  • You require ultra-high leverage directly on MT5

Why HFM Stands Out

  • Full MT5 functionality on desktop, web & mobile

HFM supports MT5 for Malaysian clients, including access to advanced charting, market-depth (DOM) features, more timeframes and more indicators than MT4 — enabling traders ready to step up from basic trading.

  • Wide range of asset classes accessible via MT5

Under MT5 at HFM Malaysians can trade not just forex majors/minors but also stocks, bonds, ETFs and other CFDs — giving a broader portfolio possibility on the same platform.

  • Flexible leverage and account types via MT5

HFM allows MT5 accounts with leverage up to 1:2000 for some account types for Malaysian clients, meaning traders can deploy strategies that require higher sensitivity or smaller margin.

  • Local-friendly support and infrastructure

Malaysian traders at HFM get access to Bahasa Malaysia support, local payment options and the same MT5 environment as global users, which simplifies the user experience when switching from demo to live.

Why HFM Falls Short

  • No MYR base-currency MT5 account guaranteed

Although HFM supports Malaysian clients, many MT5 accounts operate in USD or other currencies, meaning Malaysian traders may face currency conversion costs or deposit/withdrawal frictions.

  • Regulatory oversight for Malaysian MT5 accounts is offshore

For Malaysian clients HFM uses offshore entities rather than a local Malaysian licence under Securities Commission Malaysia, so while globally regulated, local protections (such as dispute-resolution under Malaysian law) are weaker.

HFM | Best for: Multi-asset MT5 access (forex, stocks, crypto), high leverage and Malaysian customer support

Final Verdict: Is HFM right for you?

Trade if:

  • You are familiar with MT5 functionality (EAs, multi-asset trading) and want access to more markets on the same platform in Malaysia.
  • You value localised support, regional funding options and a seamless entry into MT5 without switching broker platforms.

Consider Alternatives:

  • Consider a broker that offers full Malaysian-licenced oversight and MT5 if your priority is domestic regulatory protection over platform depth.
  • Consider a broker that explicitly offers MYR-denominated MT5 accounts (if you want minimal currency conversion impact) when comparing MT5 brokers in Malaysia.

  • Islamic Accounts Supported on MT5

Swap-free trading is available on MT5 for Muslim clients — no overnight interest and no hidden charges.

Why AvaTrade Falls Short

  • Higher Minimum Deposit

100 USD (~460 MYR) is required to open an account — wich is higher than other brokers.

  • No MYR Funding Options

Only supports international payment methods — Malaysian traders cannot deposit via local bank or FPX.

AvaTrade | Best for MT5 traders who want a simplified experience with fixed spreads

Final Verdict: Is AvaTrade right for you?

  • Supports EAs, Hedging, and Multi-Asset Trading

MT5 users can deploy Expert Advisors, use Depth of Market, run multiple strategies, and access not just forex, but also indices, metals, commodities, and crypto CFDs — all from a single login.

Spreads start from 0.0 pips on the Raw account with a low commission of USD $3 per side. Orders are processed via Equinix NY4 and LD5, ensuring fast, stable execution for Malaysian clients.

  • Localised Support and Flexible Funding Methods

FP Markets offers 24/5 multilingual support, including Bahasa Malaysia and English, with local-friendly funding methods like bank transfer, FPX, Skrill, and Neteller.

Why FP Markets Falls Short

  • Not Regulated by Securities Commission Malaysia (SC)

While globally licensed by ASIC and CySEC, FP Markets does not hold a license from Malaysia’s SC, meaning no access to local legal protections or complaint channels.

  • No Proprietary Trading App

FP Markets relies on third-party platforms (MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView). Traders seeking a custom-built app with educational tools or market news may prefer a broker with in-house tech.

FP Markets | Best for: Malaysian traders who want a powerful MT5 trading environment with ECN pricing, fast execution, and Islamic account support

Final Verdict: Is FP Markets right for you?

Trade if:

  • You want a fast, low-cost MT5 experience with ECN pricing and deep liquidity
  • You’re a Muslim trader seeking a swap-free MT5 account that’s fully Shariah-compliant

Should You Use MT5?

MT5 is best suited to traders who want more control, more tools, and more flexibility than MT4 — but that comes with a steeper learning curve.

Is MT5 right for you?

MT5 is often described as “MT4 but better,” but the differences are more meaningful than that.

  • Charting: More indicators and timeframes, but most traders still use a core set
  • Order types: More flexibility, including depth-of-market functionality
  • Automation: Faster backtesting and more powerful scripting (MQL5), but a smaller ecosystem than MT4

So yes, MT5 is more powerful than MT4 — but most traders don’t use the majority of its features. If you’re not using automation or advanced tools, that extra complexity can slow you down.

If you are a beginner trader and want to trade a range of assets, as well as Forex, MT5 is a good choice. If you only want to trade Forex on a simpler platform, you can start with MT4

Use MT5 if… Avoid MT5 if…

You want to trade multiple asset classes(micro/cent account)

You are completely new and want simplicity
You use automated trading or backtesting You rely on MT4 indicators and EAs
You need advanced charting and order types You prefer a cleaner interface
You are beyond beginner level You don’t need advanced features

If you already have some experience with MT4 and are thinking of switching, it really depends on your reasons why. The only significant reason for switching to MT5 is if you want to trade markets other than forex. The significant reason for not switching is that programmes written for MT4 will not run in MT5, so you will lose all your EAs, indicators and automated scripts in the transition.

MT5 vs MT4 vs cTrader

Choosing a trading platform isn’t about which one is “best” — it’s about which one fits how you trade.

Feature MT4 MT5 cTrader
Ease of Use Easy Moderate Easy
Charting Good Advanced Advanced
Automation Good Advanced Advanced
Assets Mostly forex Multi-asset Multi-asset
Order Types Basic Advanced Advanced
Mobile Good Good Excellent

What This Means in Practice

  • MT4 is still the easiest starting point
  • MT5 is more powerful, especially for automation and multi-asset trading
  • cTrader offers the cleanest interface, though automation is more complex

Best MT5 Brokers by Trading Style

Not all MT5 brokers offer the same experience. While the platform itself is standardised, execution quality, pricing, and additional tools vary significantly between brokers.

The key question isn’t just “Which brokers offer MT5?” — it’s “Which broker makes MT5 work best for how I trade?”

For Beginners — HFM
HFM is one of the more accessible MT5 brokers, with a straightforward account structure, strong educational resources, and responsive customer support. While MT5 itself can feel complex, HFM does a good job of reducing friction for newer traders.

For Low-Cost Trading — FP Markets
FP Markets consistently offers some of the tightest spreads on MT5, particularly on its zero-spread account. Combined with fast execution and deep liquidity, it’s a strong choice for traders prioritising cost efficiency.

For Automated Trading — AvaTrade
AvaTrade stands out for its support of algorithmic trading, including VPS integration and stable execution. Its infrastructure is well suited to traders running EAs or more advanced strategies on MT5.

For Mobile Trading — XM
XM offers a well-optimised MT5 mobile experience, with reliable execution and an interface that remains relatively easy to navigate. It’s a solid choice for traders who manage positions on the go.

For Advanced / Professional Trading — ACY Securities
ACY Securities combines ECN pricing with fast execution and a flexible account offering, making it a good fit for experienced traders who want to take full advantage of MT5’s advanced features.

What This Means in Practice

All of the brokers above offer MT5 — but the experience is not the same.

  • Some prioritise low spreads and execution speed
  • Others focus on ease of use and support
  • Others are better suited to automation or advanced strategies

The platform gives you the tools, but the broker determines how effectively you can use them.

Is MT5 Easy to Use?

Short answer: not at first.

MT5 introduces more complexity than MT4, which can slow down new traders. Many users initially struggle with navigation, chart setup, and order management.

However, once you move past that learning curve, the platform becomes significantly more flexible and powerful.

Does MT5 Improve Execution or Trading Costs?

This is one of the biggest misconceptions in trading. MT5 does not determine your trading costs or execution quality — your broker does.

The platform provides the tools, but the broker determines how well those tools perform in real market conditions.

Factor MT5 Broker
Spreads No Yes
Commissions No Yes
Execution Speed No Yes
Order Handling Yes Partially
Depth of Market Yes Yes

MT5 Mobile vs Desktop

MT5 mobile is useful — but it’s not a full replacement for desktop trading. Mobile is ideal for monitoring and executing trades, desktop is essential for analysis, strategy building, and automation.

Feature Desktop Mobile
Charting Full Limited
Indicators Full Reduced
Execution Excellent Good
Automation Yes No
Ease of Use Moderate Easy

"Much like MT4, MT5 allows traders to access the Forex market via a broker, but it also provides additional access to CFDs, stocks and futures."

How Brokers Are Scored

FxScouts’ Broker Score and Trust Rating constantly evolve to reflect the forex market’s dynamics. We ensure transparency by incorporating regulator data and user insights. Our in-depth reviews consider over 200 metrics across seven key categories. The radar chart to the left shows how important each category is when calculating a broker’s final score.

  • Trust Rating: Assessment of broker reliability and reputation
  • Trading Costs: Spreads and fees for clear comparisons
  • Platforms: User-friendliness and features
  • Asset Selection: Forex, stocks, and other available instruments
  • Deposit and Withdrawal: Simple and free deposits & withdrawals
  • Education: Support for beginners and developing traders
  • Customer Support: Accessibility, responsiveness, and expertise

To ensure fairness and transparency, we independently verify broker claims and integrate real-user feedback, regulator data, and live trading tests. The radar chart to the left illustrates the weight of each category in our final scoring system.
